SNAP-8, usually called **acetyl octapeptide-3** (also marketed as acetyl glutamyl heptapeptide-1), is a synthetic eight–amino-acid cosmetic peptide developed for topical reduction of expression-line appearance, especially forehead and periocular lines. It mimics part of SNAP-25 and is proposed to partially interfere with SNARE-complex assembly, thereby reducing the efficiency of acetylcholine-vesicle release and facial-muscle contraction; this is conceptually related to the wrinkle pathway targeted by botulinum toxin but is not equivalent to Botox’s SNAP-25 cleavage or clinical effect.
